Caruso Lombardi: I can save San Lorenzo

New San Lorenzo coach Ricardo Caruso Lombardi believes he can save the club from relegation from Argentina s top flight.

Caruso Lombardi agreed to replace Leonardo Madelon who resigned in the wake of their 2-0 home loss to Velez Sarsfield on Sunday on Tuesday.

Speaking to the press as he prepared for Sunday s clash against Racing Club, the outspoken coach said he would do all he could to keep San Lorenzo, who are languishing in the relegation play-off places, in the top flight.

God willing this year will not be the exception. Together we are going to save San Lorenzo, Caruso told Ole, referring to his impressive record in helping teams avoid the drop.

A big club like this does not come looking for you every day, but I have a lot of faith in myself.

The 50-year-old is perhaps best known in Argentina for saving fellow giants Racing from relegation during the 2009 Clausura, a feat he repeated with Tigre.
