Pochettino ´very happy´ with Neymar progress: We´ll see for Barcelona

Mauricio Pochettino could not confirm Neymar would make his return from injury against former club Barcelona but remains very happy with his recovery.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar suffered an adductor injury against Caen in the Coupe de France on February 10.

A predicted four-week lay-off would accommodate a comeback against Barca in the Champions League, having missed the first-leg trip to Camp Nou where Kylian Mbappe inspired a 4-1 away win.

Pochettino has since repeatedly insisted Neymar is on schedule, although PSG s win rate has improved from 66.7 per cent to 73.7 per cent when he has been missing this season.

With the last-16 second leg now just five days away, the PSG coach was asked explicitly about the potential involvement of the world s mo…

Ending FA Cup replays another example of EFL being ‘marginalised’, says league

The decision to scrap FA Cup replays is further evidence of the EFL and its clubs being “marginalised”, the league has said.

The Football Association announced on Thursday it had reached an agreement with the Premier League on the future format and funding of the competition, which would include all replays from the first round being abolished.

A number of EFL clubs have criticised the changes and insisted they were not consulted, with the FA releasing a statement on Friday saying it understood those concerns and would share details with them about how any shortfall in lost replay revenue may be made up.

Gutierrez preparing to say goodbye in ´most important´ Newcastle match

Jonas Gutierrez says Saturday s encounter against West Ham is the most important match of his Newcastle United career in what could be his farewell appearance for the club.

Gutierrez was a part of the last Newcastle team to drop into the Championship in 2009 and the Argentine winger is keen to avoid a repeat of those painful memories.

It s the most important game I have to play in seven years,  Gutierrez told the Shields Gazette.

The good thing is that we play at home and it s in our hands. A few players here know what …

Manchester City bid for Matheus Nunes as Bernardo Silva signs new contract

Manchester City have submitted a bid in excess of €50m (£42.7m) for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes on an eventful day at the club. Bernardo Silva has committed his future and signed a new contract with the club until 2026, while Aymeric Laporte has announced that his time at the Etihad Stadium has come to an end.
